INDOFURN purchases used beams and planks and transforms them into  "Beauty through Simplicity"

Used timber is desirable because it reduces the likelihood of cracking. 

If we are not able to acquire scarce, used timber we use timber which comes from special production forests. 

Teak furniture is very energy efficient. Compared to the enormous energy required for manufacturing plastics and other man-made materials before being made into furniture, teak comes to us as a finished product from the tree.

Too often in the Western world people lose their jobs to machines. We provide excellent jobs for our workers at wages above many of their peers. Here at INDOFURN we are proud of the fine craftsmen and craftswomen who take pride in their beautiful work. Each piece is handmade and handfinished to perfection.

INDOFURN purchases all its teak from the state-owned enterprise, Perum Perhutani. 

Indonesia has been a forerunner in forest ecology programs to insure the well being and continuance of tropical woodlands. Both INDOFURN and the country of Indonesia have given great attention to the regeneration of hardwoods. Each year, 475 million board feet (1.1 million cubic meters) of timber is harvested for production. At the same time replanting is conducted on more than 100,000 acres (40,000 hectares), without destroying the precious tropical rainforests. 

Furthermore, farmers are encouraged to grow subsistence crops and legumes between the teak trees. This enriches the land and prevents soil erosion. To obtain maximum growth, farmers apply fertilizers and other soil nutrients. 

We at INDOFURN are confident that this sustained forest management, conducted since 1887, will continue to safeguard teak plantations -- and the rainforests -- in the generation to come. Our children and our earth will be the beneficiaries.
